Interview with Howard Dell – Olympic Champion, Actor, Singer who “Conquered Life”
You are known as a former Olympic champion, high-performance athlete, actor, singer, motivational speaker, and last but not least, a coach to some of the greatest high-performance athletes. Setting aside all these honorable titles, who is Howard Dell, and what would be the most fitting description of you?
I would say that I am a guy raised on a farm in Canada who passionately pursued his dreams, giving birth to hope where it was not apparent, and who shares life experiences to help others achieve their dreams.
What is the greatest achievement of your life so far?
Well, that is a difficult question. In terms of physical, emotional, and mental well-being, the greatest achievement has been surviving a terminal liver disease through a liver transplant eight years ago. Anything else pales in comparison to the precious gift of life.
What do the concepts of ‘fitness’ and ‘wellness’ mean to you?
The concepts of ‘fitness’ and ‘wellness’ are very important to me. They have always been, but I approached them as a fundamental tool in initiating competitive sports activities. Therefore, they represent a solid foundation for good health and the highly important competitive activity for me.
Do you have a favorite workout routine or preferred training style?
My favorite training has always been aimed at achieving top performance in professional sports activities. This involves track running and intense gym workouts with weights. I have always enjoyed intense physical training.
What advice would you give to a woman with a busy schedule who hesitates to establish a fitness routine but is still concerned about her health and more?
I would start by saying that as we age, things become more complicated. We all want to look good and be healthy, but we have to start somewhere. ‘A year from now, you’ll wish you had started today.’ Therefore, I recommend starting with a maximum of 2-3 exercises. Make them a routine. Over time, they become 4-5 combined exercises, lasting 15-30 minutes, once a day. That is actually the path to achieving the desired body shape.
What exercises or training type do you recommend for women with a hectic schedule?
Well, I love WAYFLEX for its multiple exercise options. This seems to be what most people want nowadays. I don’t always agree with the principle of ‘getting bored,’ but with WAYFLEX, I am sure about the effectiveness of the combination of exercises based on a universal device. With WAYFLEX, I recommend using a combination of suspension exercises, which I call ‘static exercises,’ combined with dynamic WAYFLEX exercises. The best elements of both types of exercises are combined in one device. With WAYFLEX, we can perform accessible exercises for the abdomen, legs, shoulders, back, and glutes. All you need to do to discover the magic of WAYFLEX is to purchase the device.
What are the advantages of the WAYFLEX routine?
WAYFLEX is a portable device that can be attached anywhere. It can be used in suspension mode or WAYFLEX mode, covering the needs for a variety of static or dynamic exercises, as I mentioned earlier. You can purchase the product without any doubts. No matter which muscle group you want to work, you can use different types of tensions for beginners or advanced users. That is the main reason why I like this device. From the start, I wasn’t a fan of TRX, so discovering WAYFLEX made me realize that this device is ideal for suspension exercise-based training.
The variety of exercises performed with Wayflex is impressive.
